Along with the continuous raising for the communication service scope and service speed request, the people have already focused increasingly to 4 th generation mobile communication systems, however, the smart antenna was one of 4G key technologies. Firstly the basic conception and principle as well as the classification of the SA were introduced in the article, then, on the bases mentioned above, smart antenna how to carry out DOA estimation was analyzed too.
