Origin of Surname Li and Its Migration Towards Fujian and Taiwan

李姓有源于嬴姓和老氏二说。唐代以前,李姓主要在我国北方地区播迁与发展。李姓入闽大致可分为四个阶段,即唐初太宗时期、唐高宗时期、唐末五代时期与宋元时期。从明末开始,闽、粤两地的李姓族人陆续移居台湾。有清一代,李姓遍布台湾各地。台湾李姓支系众多,每个支系又以其来台的第一代作为始祖,并在族谱、郡望、堂号上和祖籍保持一致。这为实现两岸李姓的族谱对接以及台湾李姓的寻根问祖提供了有力证据。

There are two opinions about the origin of Surname Li, i. e. surname Ying and clan name Lao. Surname Li migrated and developed in the north china before the tang dynasty. Li＇ s migration to Fujian divided into Tang Tai zong time, Tang Gao zong time, late Tang dynasty - Five dynasties time and Yuan dynasty time. surname Li people from Fujian and Guangdong migrated to Taiwan since late Ming dynasty in succession. Surname Li spread over Taiwan through the Qing dynasty. There are many Li＇ s branches in Taiwan , and Li＇ s first generation of every branch is regarded as its primogenitor and genealogy , name of important prefecture family and family title is consistent with the Chinese mainland, which provide predominate evidences for its roots and ancestors of surname Li in Taiwan.
