Comparison & Analysis Between Chinese Vocative and English Vocative

呼语作为一语言现象,历来不为语言学家所重视。但呼语在汉英语篇翻译当中是不可避免的,对这一语言现象进行对比分析,既可以丰富语言学研究、又可以帮助人们了解呼语的使用特点。在英汉语篇中,汉语呼语数量相对较少,英语呼语数量相对较多;汉语呼语大多出现在话语句首,而英语呼语大多出现在句尾或句中。

Little attention has been given to vocatives by linguists, however, the use of vocatives is inevitable in discourse translation. The comparision and analysis of this linguistic phenomenon in English and Chinese can give us a deep insight into the unique characteristics of vocativc. The comparision has shown that in English and Chinese discourses, the use of Chinese vocatives are much less than English vocatives which are usually placed at the front of the sentences while English vocatives are used at the back or in the middle of the sentences.
