汉英关系从句不对称中的语用共性原则

Universal Pragmatic Principles Underlying the Asymmetry between Chinese and English Relative Clauses

对汉英中各种关系从句进行对比分析后发现:(1)汉英均有使用代词保留关系化策略现象,符合名词短语可及性等级序列(Keenan & Comrie,1977)的预测,体现了语用Q原则(Horn,1996);(2)汉英均普遍使用了零形式关系化策略,体现了语用R原则(Horn,1996)。但两种语言采用零形式策略都有违背可及性等级序列预测的情况,内因是受到了"避免歧义"原则的制约,可归因为语用Q原则。

A contrastive study of relative clauses in Chinese and English from a typological perspective has led to two discoveries:that the two languages both use anaphoric pronoun relativization strategy to a certain extent,which is consistent with the prediction by 'Noun Phrase Accessibility Hierarchy'(Keenan & Cormier,1977)and with the realization of Q-principle(Horn,1996);and that the selection of zero relativization strategy in the two languages is subject not only to 'Noun Phrase Accessibility Hierarchy',but also to the principle of avoiding ambiguity,which is itself derived from the Q-principle.
