Through practical editorial work in the English translation of the abstracts of papers about finance and insurance, the author finds some problems in the translation and makes an analysis of the problems. The author holds that the translator should develope a responsible attitude towards the readers as well as science, lay good foundations in the knowledge of both insurance and English, study the source text and reference books carefully and cautiously. Only in this way, can the translation of the abstract of the papers meet the purpose of international communication.
