English Culture Teaching under Globalization

语言与文化密不可分,语言是文化的载体,也是精神文化的一部分;文化是语言的反映,并影响语言的发展。语言学习也即文化学习(Hall,2005:66),其重要目标之一是培养学生的文化意识。英语全球化要求我们对英语文化教学重新审视。英语文化已不仅指英美文化,也包括英语非母语国家的英语文化,因此我们的文化教学目标就是培养学生的全球文化意识。要以全球化的视角来实施文化教学的措施。

Language and culture are closely related. Language is the carrier of culture and part of the spiritual culture; culture is the re- flection of language, which will expose great influence on the development of language. Therefore, language learning is also, at the same time, culture learning （Hall, 2005： 66）, and one of the significant goal of language learning is fostering students＇ cultural awareness. The globalization of English makes it necessary for us to reconsider English culture teaching. English culture is not only the US or British culture, which also includes the non-native countries. Therefore fostering the students＇ global cultural awareness has become our goal in culture teaching. We should carry out cultural teaching meature from global perspective.
