莱布尼茨的自然观某种程度上是从机械论向经院哲学的复归。在莱布尼茨那里,广延不是物质的内在本质,力才是物质的自然本性,是某种绝对实在的东西,也是运动和广延的根源;一切物质的运动都是"自动",力是物质"自动"的原因。这就是他的"形而上学的力"的概念,是自然观上的"力学本体论"。

Leibniz s view of nature is to some extent reversion from mechanistic to Scholasticism.In Leibniz,the extensive is not intrinsic nature of material and power,which is not only absolutely certain things but also the source of movement and extensive,is the nature of the material.Movement of all matter are ＂automatic＂ and the power is the reason of ＂automatic＂ of matter.This is Leibniz s ＂metaphysical power＂ concept and ＂ontological mechanics＂ in his view of nature.
