Public libraries, as government funding libraries for public serving purposes, are the centre of collection and offering for area literature and information resources. Public libraries have inherited and irreplaceable advantages in government information public service sector;they are also an important segment in public cultural service system. This article elaborates on the function of public library and some new requires that public library would meet in government information public service system, and points out a few issues that are worth notice and countermeasures.
