中国古代专名的观念源远流长,西方学者对专名研究更为深入,形成"摹状词理论"和"历史的因果理论"两大重要流派理论。根据古今中外学术大家的研究成果,结合中外权威辞书和中国有关的国家标准,可以从专名表达单独概念、命名性特征、真实与虚拟、广义与狭义等几方面来界定专名。

The concept of proper names in ancient China has a long history. The study of proper names by westem scholars is more intensive,forming two major schools of ＂description theory＂and ＂causal theory of history＂. According to the research results by great academic masters at all times and in all lands ,and the authoritative dictionaries at home and abroad and the national standard,proper names can be defined from such aspects as the expression of simple concept, the features of naming, the reality and fiction ,the general sense and the narrow sense of words.
