摘要 英语跨文化交际是跨文化交际中最为广阔且具典型性的领域。由于民族、历史、地理和社会等诸多因素,语言间的差异、异质文化的冲突和误读等方面在英语跨文化交际中表现得最为充分和明显。文章主要探讨了跨文化交际和语用学的关系,列举跨文化交际的语用失误类型和原因,说明跨文化交际研究不仅仅是比较和对照,它更应该建立在人类文化同一性的基础上。使交际双方通过不断的磋商、互动与调适,掌握跨文化交际的技巧,避免交际中不必要的失误和误解。并将其理论应用到教学中,形成外语教学实践的理论指导。 English communication across cultures is typical of the area of cross-cuhural communication. For the national, historic, geographic and social reasons, the discoursal variation and the cuhural misinterpretation of the interlocutors are most fully and obviously manifested in it. This paper attempts to examine the relationship between cross-cultural communication and pragmatics and to enumerate pragmatic failures and its causes in cross-cultural communication. The paper further explains that cross-cultural communication research is not only based on a comparison, but also on the identity of human cultures, so as for people to master some communicative techniques through continual negotiation and interaction, and to avoid the unnecessary failures and misunderstandings in cross-cultural communication. The theory is also applied to English teaching, forming a theoretical guidance for foreign language teaching practice.
