"Haishi" in the Transitional Compound Sentences

本文从"还是"转折句入手进行研究,考察该类句子的语义构成和表现形式,并从中探讨副词"还是"之"延续"义虚化的综合因素及其虚化的脉络,以及在虚化过程中由于主观因素的介入和"延续"义的逐渐脱落,形成"选择"义的过程。

The adverb ＂haishi＂ in mandarin, which indicates a continuation of something, can be used in the transitional compound sentences. Starting with the study of the semantic and syntactic constructions of the transitional compound sentences in which ＂haishi＂ is used, the comprehensive factors leading to the grammaticalization of ＂haishi＂ and its grammaticalizational trace are explored. Moreover, it is found that ＂haishi＂, which indicates having an option, is gradually grammaticalized by ＂haishi＂ indicating a continuation of something on the conditions that subjective factors are imposed on the latter and that the meaning of continuation is fading during the process.
