On the Advanced Intellectuals' View of Socialism during the Period of the May 4^(th) Movement

五四时期是科学社会主义理论在中国得到广泛传播的重要阶段,先进知识分子在对社会主义的思考和认识中,提出了不少正确的、闪现着智慧光芒的思想。尽管他们的认识中存在明显的缺陷和不切实际的因素,但在中国社会主义运动的初始阶段,这些富有启迪的见解为科学社会主义在中国革命实际中的运用和发展指明了方向,开辟了道路。

The Period of the May 4^th Movement was an important stage when scientific socialism theories had been widely disseminated in China. During this period,progressive intellectuals put forward a number of correct and wise thoughts in socialist pondering and understanding. Despite of obvious flaws and impractical elements in their awareness,in the initial stage of China s socialist movement,these enlightening views on scientific socialism indicated the direction and paved the way in the actual application and development of Chinese revolution.
