约翰·邓恩:矛盾的统一体

John Donne: The Unity of Contradictions

作为英国十七世纪玄学派诗歌的代表人物,约翰·邓恩是一位具有影响同时也很具争议的诗人。直到20世纪,受T.S.艾略特和新批评的推崇,邓恩的文学地位才最终得以确立。本文主要运用文本细读的方法,试图分析邓恩具有代表性的爱情诗歌和宗教诗歌,发现诗人持有矛盾的爱情观和宗教观,但是在矛盾事物的两方面,邓恩不断地寻求两者的统一。

As a representative figure of the 17^th century English Metaphysical poetry, John Donne is an influential and at the same time controversial poet. Due to the celebration of T. S. Eliot and New Criticism, Donne＇s literary position is finally situated. Through close reading, this thesis tries to analyze Donne＇s typical love poems and religious poems. It concludes that the poet holds contradictory attitudes toward love and religion, among which Donne constantly seeks for the unity of them.
