The Introduction of Culture into College English Listening Teaching

文化是人类创造的物质财富和精神财富的总和,是人类社会的整个生活方式。它可分为表层文化,中层文化及深层文化。但不同民族和区域的文化是存在差异性的,学生如不熟悉英语国家文化,就会在听力理解过程中误解英语国家所特有的事物、制度和观念,无法有效地理解听力内容。教师应利用各种教学手段和设备,在听力课上输入大量的英语文化背景知识,以丰富的知识为后盾,有效地提高学生听力水平。

Culture created by human beings is the entire way of life of the human society including material wealth and spiritual wealth. It can he divided into several levels like elementary culture, intermediate culture and advanced culture. Since there are culture diversities existing in different nations and areas, students might misunderstand the particular subjects, systems and concepts in English-speaking countries if they don＇t have an estimate knowledge of the culture knowledge in those countries. So teachers should use various teaching methods and facilities in class to input tots of background cultural knowledge so as to improve students＇ listening ability effectively.
