摘要
篇章元话语是用来组织语篇、引导读者的语言手段。体裁、语用及社会文化特征能限制和影响文本中篇章元话语手段的选择和使用。数据统计分析表明,中英文医药说明书中篇章元话语使用的相似之处是由于共同的体裁、语用特征使然;其差异乃不同的语言、语用、社会文化特征对篇章元话语使用的选择和限制不同所致。
Metadiscourse refers to aspects of a text which explicitly organize the discourse, engage the audience and signal the writer' s attitude. Generic, linguistic, pragmatic, and socio-cuhural differences impose constraints on the choices of certain metadiscourse devices. Statistics show that generic and pragmatic characteristics common in both English and Chinese pharmaceutical packaging inserts explain the similarities in the employment of textual metadiscourse between English and Chinese texts;and the differences in the use of textual metadiscourse devices between English and Chinese pharmaceutical packaging inserts are due to linguistic, pragmatic and socio-cultural differences across the languages.
