令狐滈举进士及授官风波是晚唐部分正直官员对权要子弟把持仕进之门的一次正义反击,但不可能改变权要子弟的仕进强势地位。晚唐虽有短暂时期对权要子弟举进士不利,但绝大部分时间他们仍占据了绝对优势,寒素文士沦为可怜的点缀。权要子弟可凭借荫资获授好官,且易仕至高位,寒素文士即使入仕也多为沉沦下僚,大多数入仕无门。仕进不公加剧了社会矛盾,成为唐王朝衰落的原因之一。

The incident of Ling Huhao＇s taking part in the Jinshi test and obtained official posts were a justified counterattack by a batch of honest officials against the dignity sons＇ holding the official promotion, but their attempts were impossible to reverse the latter＇s advantage. The adverse impacts to the latter were temporary in late Tang, still they were enjoying the favors most of the time and the children of the lower class were nothing but poor complements. However, the unfairness of the social trend was one of the factors that caused the Tang Dynasty to approach its eventual corruption.
