The ethnic minority sports culture in the Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture is an important part of the national sports culture in the west of China. The ethnic sports culture here enjoys a long history and is therefore an invaluable treasure for the ethnic minority sports. By approches of observation and investigation, a research is made into the traditional sports of the Yi People in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture. The survey reveals us the content, distribution and heritage of the ethnic minority sports tradition and its major sports events, cultural origin and dissemination paths, popularization process with its economic and cultural values examined. All this is done in an attempt to protect and carry on the traditional ethnic minority sports culture in the Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture.
