Cordelia is a heroine of King Lear , the tragedy written by Shakespeare and though she shows up on the scene not so much, Cordelia possesses individuality of rich connotation and sense. This paper has analysed the prototype of the figure, the conflict of the figure＇ s dual character and the formation cause of the figure＇ s tragedy in Cordelia and has concluded Cordelia is another representative of humanistic beliefs in Shakespeare＇ s works and is the fruit of the conflict of the writer＇ s humnanistic ideal and realistic situation.
