城乡关系作为社会大系统中的两个子系统之间的各种关系,其内容包括城乡经济、政治、文化、社会各个领域的关系,表现为社会中阶级、阶层及各类群体之间的关系,社会分工的关系或国民经济几大部门的关系,其表现形式可采取合作、协同、冲突、对抗或对立以及统治、领导与服从、被领导等多种形式。不同时期的城乡关系往往有不同的社会内容。从社会的视角明晰城乡关系的基本内涵和不同时期的内容,可以为理解和构建和谐的城乡关系提供基础。

Urban-rural relationship is the relationship between the two subsystems of a grand social system which includes urban and rural economic, political, cultural and social relations in various fields. It is manifested in the relations between the different class, hierarchy and the various groups in the society, and in the relations between social division of labor or the relations between the major branches of the national economy, which may take the form of co-operation, collaboration, conflict, confrontation or opposition, as well as ruling, lead and obedience, to be led and other forms. The rural-urban relationship in different periods tends to have different social content. Clarifying basic connotations and contents of different periods from a social perspective can provide the basis to understand and build a harmonious relationship between urban and rural areas.
