The article held a comparison to the geographical distrihutio.n of genotype in IG region of JC polyomavirus of Uighur people in Xinjiang. We separated JC virus from 103 samples of male Uighur donors who are over 40 years old, and also extracted DNA from these sample, we also held PCR experiment the IG region of JC virus and mensurated DNA sequence, and obtained the base sequence of IG region of JC virus of 73 people. Many figures analysis research indented that the 73 people of base sequence, showed that 5 genotypes Bl--a, Bl--b, BI--c, CY and EU were present with frequencies of 4.1%, 58.9%, 8. 2%, 21.9% and 2.7%, respectively. Genotype Bl--b was found in the most of the sampled areas and was dominant in Xinjiang, this analysis linked the Uighur people to the Turkish populations that history shows as moving south from the Mongolian Highlands. They were described as Turks around the third century BC.
