On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People＇s Republic of China, I am honored to review the interventional treatment of cardiovascular diseases in China. It is really interesting to evaluate the progress in such a field that did not exist 25 years ago in this country in the present context with the term ＂interventional cardiology＂. In China, right and left heart catheterization has been adopted as a diagnostic tool for cardiovascular diseases since 1950, and selective coronary angiography started to be used clinically in 1972.
