The paper deals with the historical and cultural significance of postcolonial violence in noted Australian author, Thomas Keneally' s novel the Chant of Jimmy Blacksmith, i.e. the root cause of violence is oppression, or, the more oppression, the more violence. The violence seeker attempts to shatter such " transcendental signifieds" as subject/object, white/black binary oppositions in white ideology. The result will be obviously ruinous. Under the grand background of founding Australian Commonwealth, the historical and cultural significance of postcolonial violence is magnified and multiplied.
