MIMO of UMTS mobile communication is analyzed in this article. The definition and styles of space diversity, space multiplexing and MIMO are introduced, space-time coding based on space diversity and LSTC based on space multiplexing is expatiated. The FDD and TDD MIMO schemes of UMTS standard evolution is discussed in detail.
