北京近代以来多是中国政治中心,所以和其他工商业发达的城市相比妓女数量较少,采取断然禁娼不会产生较大的社会动荡,故新中国建立之初北京一夜之间封闭了全市所有的妓院,并对妓女进行集中收容、教育、改造和安置,这一方式被称为"北京方式"。北京市封闭妓院、改造妓女,取得了巨大的成功,在教育方式、区别对待妓院经管人员与普通妓女、社会动员等方面积累了一些可资借鉴的经验。

Beijing is political center of China in modern times. The number of prostitutes is less than other city that industry and commerce were flourishing. Take measures to outlaw prostitution couldn＇ t cause social unrest. So closed down all brothels in Beijing, and centralized prostitutes to education, rehabilitation and prostitutes, it＇s named Beijing Style. It＇s a tremendous success that closed down all brothels, rehabilitation of prostitute. They have accumulated useful experience in education style, deal with different people in management in brothel and prostitutes and social mobilization etc.
