The chapter 'Jun Ren Zhe He Bi An Zai' is a standard pre-Qin yulu('sayings') philosophical text, using a conversation between Fan Wu and Prince Zhao of Chu to express its meaning.Fan Wu talks of a jade of the king having three blemishes and so the king has it examined but finds no blemishes. The three blemishes are of course only a metaphor for three shortcomings of the king, and so this records an admonition of King Zhao by the elder statesman Fan Wu who had served four monarchs of Chu during the Spring and Autumn period.
