胡适的半部《白话文学史》在学术史上的价值并不突出,作为白话文运动的总结性成果,其对传统文学秩序的彻底反叛及其所采取的二元对立的叙事方式,与其说是一个文学史的"解构—重构"过程,不如把它看成是对五四那场思想文化运动的寓言化表述。

Hu Shi＇s ＂A History. of Vernacular Literature＂ is not too much prominent in the academic history, however, as a summary, of Vernacular Movement, completely rebelling the order of traditional literature and taking the binary opposition narration, it was still regarded as the allegorical expression of the ideological and cultural movement （ ＂the May 4th Movement＂ ）, rather than as the ＂deconstruetion - reconstruction＂ process in literary history.
