On Hu Shi's Translation Ideas from the Perspective of Power Discourse Theory

运用福柯的权力话语理论分析胡适的翻译观。胡适在翻译选本上提倡翻译西洋名著,在翻译用语上主张使用白话,在翻译方法上强调采用直译。指出胡适的这些翻译观点是各种权力话语操控的结果,既受到当时国内文学革命、西方强势文化等权力话语的支配,也与他本人的诗学追求紧密相关。

This paper analyzes Hu Shi＇s translation ideas from Michel Foucault＇s power discourse theory. As for the choice of source texts, Hu Shi advocates translating the west masterpieces; as for the choice of target language, he insists on the use of vernacular Chinese; as for the choice of translation methods, he emphasizes the adoption of literal translation Hu Shi＇s translation ideas are the manipulation results of power discourse. They are not only influenced by the power discourse factors such as national literature revolution, forceful west culture and so on, but also closely related to his pursuit of personal poetics.
