Inductively Coupled Plasma - mass Spectrometry （ ICP - MS） and its characteristic were briefly reviewed. The application of ICP - MS technology in tobacco chemistry was also introduced, such as heavy metal element analysis of tobacco, cigarette, mainstream cigarette smoke, sidestream cigarette smoke and cigarette material. The prospect of ICP - MS application in tobacco chemistry was further discussed.
