According to the times development and the growth of human subjectivity, the theory of social contract demonstrates and explains rationally a modern nation on the basis of criticizing the doctrine of a traditional nation, promoting the progress of the whole human civilization. With the transformation and development of modern China, the construction of a modern nation becomes a significant subject. The theory of social contract may provide some ideas for building a modern China.
