Both data-driven learning （DDL） and autonomous learning advocate active learning to explore and discover language rules from authentic materials. With the help of Sketch Engine and examples based on CLEC and BNC,the paper attempts to discuss, from the perspectives of word collocation, synonym discrimination and semantic prosody,the application and value of DDL in English vocabulary autonomous learning. Inspiring learners＇ curiosity and explorative spirit,DDL can make the acquired knowledge id- iomatic ,more systematic and lasting.
