With the rapid development of computer multimedia technology and network technology,computer-assisted instruction（CAI） becomes the mainstream of the present educational development.The essay elaborates on the advantages of CAI over the traditional teaching model,and points out some problems in the application,which are caused by superficial understanding of its positioning in the teaching.The writer analyzes the functions of CAI as well as investigates such problems as software engineering,teacher training and teacher role in the new teaching model.
