摘要
译者的"自由"历来是中西方翻译史上最容易引起争议的话题之一。从概念本质上看,人们应当相对地、动态地来理解"自由",在寻求译者自由度界定的标准这一问题上,概念性抽象性的方法往往难于被译者真正理解并科学地加以运用。基于关联理论的数学公式型的界定方法无疑为译者自由度的探讨提供一个更具操作性的方法,从而为译学界译者翻译活动提供一个新的参考标准。
The ＂freedom＂ of translators is one of the most controversial topics in the history of both Chinese and western translations.This paper focuses on the discussion of how to define the degree of translators freedom.It starts with the definition of the word ＂freedom＂ in translation,followed in the second part by the introduction to one method to confine its extent.It aims at providing a criterion for translators to assess the ＂freedom＂ in translation in a more direct and explicit way.
