In order to know the expressions of collagen type Ⅳ (Col Ⅳ ) and laminin (LN) at basement membrane in patients with bladder transitional cell carcinoma (BTCC),the distribution of Col Ⅳ and LN at basement membrane were studied by immunohistochemical techniques (SABC method) in 35 specimens of patients with BTCC. The result showed that the deeper the tumor invasion or the poorer the tumor differentiation, the more the loss of Col Ⅳ and LN at basement membrane, and the distributions of Col Ⅳ,LN between superficial tumor and invasive tumor were significantly different, respectively. It was concluded that the displays of Col Ⅳ and LN at basement membrane in patients with superficial BTCC were more than those in patients with invasive BTCC;the poorer the tumor differentiation, the more the loss of Col Ⅳ and LN at basement membrane.
