Impact of Children's Orthodontic Treatment on their Parent's Oral Health Related Quality of Life

目的:观察儿童正畸患者治疗前后其父母生活质量的变化;分析Family Impact Scale(FIS)问卷对正畸治疗的应答性。方法:从正畸临床病人中随机挑选122例儿童患者,其父母分别在正畸前后填写汉语化的FIS问卷,治疗前后的模型采用ICON指数(Index of Complexity,Outcome and Need)进行评价。结果:治疗结束后家长的FIS值比治疗前显著降低,治疗前后FIS差值与家长的自我评价一致,但与ICON治疗前后差值没有显著关系。结论:正畸治疗后患者家长的生活质量显著提高,FIS问卷能够用于对患者家长生活质量的评估。

Objectives： To investigate the changes of parent＇s oral health related quality of life following children＇ s orthodontic treatment and assess the responsiveness of Family Impact Scale（FIS）measure to orthodontic treatment. Methods： Parents （father or mother） of 122 consecutive orthodontic patients self-completed the Family Impact scale （FIS） at baseline and post-treatment and rated oral health status of their children 6 months post-ortho- dontic treat. Patients＇ occlusion was assessed using Index of Complexity, Outcome and Need （ICON）. Results： FIS scores of post-treatment were significantly lower than scores of pretreatment. Both the raw mean change scores and the magnitude of the effect size were influenced by the direction of global ratings. Conclusion： Parent＇s FIS was significantly improved following their children＇s orthodontic treatment. The FIS measure was responsive to ortho- dontic treatment.
