“放弃对汽车依赖”生态城市理念及其对当代中国城市发展的价值

Register's Eco-city Idea of "Disconnection of Dependence upon Automobile" and Its Value for China's City Development

美国学者理查德·瑞吉斯特深刻地揭露和批判了当今为汽车所主宰的现代城市的危机和弊端,并据此提出了"放弃对汽车依赖"的生态城市理念:为人而不是为汽车而设计城市;构建按步行、自行车、铁路、轨道公共交通、小轿车和卡车的优先顺序发展的城市交通体系;建造紧凑而集中的社区,逆转城市蔓延式发展。他的生态城市理念,对于我国的城市发展和生态城市建设具有一定的参考和借鉴价值。

American scholar Richard Register profoundly disclosed and criticized the crisis and disadvantages of modern cities dominated by automobiles and therefore he proposed the eco-city idea of ＂disconnection of dependence upon automobile＂： city is for human being rather than for automobile; to establish city transportation system putting priority on walk, bicycles, railroad, public transportation, car and truck; to build close and compact communities and reverse the trend of city expansion. His eco-city idea is of value for reference and learning as to China＇s city development and eco-city construction.
