In the International Classification of Diseases （ICD） - 10, the obstetric department encodes more complexly with more difficulties, and error rates are relative}y higher compared to other systems, which is a generally difficult chapter for coders. Its characteristic is that coding can be affected by more factors, and often changes with the incidence period, the targets and the extent of quantification, among which the incidence period is an important factor. The same disease would have different coding due to different incidence period. Coders should be aware of obstetrie coding features, analyze medical records carefully, and improve coding accuracy.
