Traffic demand management is an efficient strategy to keep the supply and demand balance of road networks by decreasing the potential traffic demand.The paper applies the viewpoint of economy and game theory to analyze causes of urban traffic congestion and functional mechanism of the related traffic demand management methods and interprets the validity of traffic demand management from economic perspective.
