A complex, Cd（8-aminoql）（SCN）2 （1） （8-aminoql=8-aminoquinoline）, was synthesized and structurally characterized. The Cd^2＋ ion exhibits distorted octahedral coordination geometry and each SCN^-anions bridging the neighboring Cd（8-aminoql）^2＋ units form a 2D sheet coordination polymer, and further extended into a 3D supramolecular structure through π-π weak interactions. The complex emits green luminescence at room temperature. CCDC： 737144.
