Carl Fredrik Svenstedt is a Swedish-Canadian architect currently working out of his Paris studio. Educated at Harvard and Yale, and currently a teacher at the Ecole Speciale d'Architecture in Paris, his work is certainly structured, even academic. It nowadays covers a range of scales, from furniture design to architecture, and from landscape to urban design. His projects are gen- erally based on innovative building techniques applying simple technologies, but very often he goes back to the basics and uses materials like wood. This professional trait, arguably a legacy of his Swedish and Canadian origins, results in "generous spaces for human experience." Most of Svenstedt's built work to date consists of residential projects for both public and private clients, but he has more recently branched out and developed several designs for urban parks, skating rinks, pools and squares.
