如何掌握不定式与动名词作补语时的用法始终是英语初学者多年来的难题,文章在回顾了英语语法界对不定式和动名词用法研究的历史后,提出了"心理过程动词"的概念,并以此对英语动词进行了分析,指出:凡表示心理过程的动词都必须带动名词作为补语。这一原则对初学者了解和掌握英语动词的语义特征与使用规则之间的关系有一定指导意义。

For many years, it has remained a difficult problem to English beginners how to learn the usages of English infinitives and gerunds as complement. This paper, having reviewed the historical development of the study on the usages of English infinitives and gerunds as complement, hypothesizes the concept of ＇psychological process＇ verbs and, based on it, analyses different kinds of English verbs, pointing out that all such verbs should take gerunds as complement. The principle is instructive in helping English beginners learn the connections between the semantic features of English verbs and their usages.
