Analysis of South Korea's U.N. Peace-Keeping Operations in the Post Cold-War Era

参与联合国的维持和平行动是韩国加入联合国之后对外关系的重要内容。韩国表示参与联合国维和行动的目的是回报国际社会对韩国的帮助,承担与韩国实力相称的国际责任。但是通过考察,本文发现联合国维和行动同韩国的外交战略、经济政策和安全政策存在密切联系。这些政策的综合影响促使韩国积极参与联合国的维和行动。随着韩国不断拓展新的海外军事行动模式,韩国的联合国维和行动呈现下降态势,但不管怎样,韩国不会抛弃而将选择性参与未来的维和行动,联合国维和行动仍将是韩国低成本拓展国际空间的主要方式。

After being admitted to the United Nations,Actively Participating in U.N. Peace-keeping Operations (PKOs) has become one of South Korea's important diplomatic activities. Although South Korea has always declared that his participation is designed for paying debts back to the international community,South Korea's PKOs are interwined with its economic,diplomatic and security policies. Practically it is these dynamics that have spurred South Korea into participating in these operations. As a result of South Korea's consistent exploration of new overseas military patterns,UN PKOs will decline. However,South Korea will not abandon UN PKOs,but will participate selectively. UN PKOs will remain to be low cost measures,which South Korea adopts to expand its international space.
