中西文化差异与翻译的局限性

Differences of Chinese-Western Cultures and Translational Limitations

语言是文化的载体,它与文化是紧密联系的;语言与文化都存在差异,而文化差异则造成了翻译的局限性。自然环境和生活方式的差异、风俗习惯的差异、宗教信仰的差异、民族价值观和审美观的差异、修辞格的差异等致使翻译的可译性受到限制;本文运用了大量典型事例,从以上几个方面论述了翻译的局限性。

Language is a conveyance of the culture with which language is tightly contacted.Differences exist among languages,and so do cultures.Cultural differences cause translational limits.Differences such as those of natural environmental and living styles,of customs,of religious believes,of peoples＇ viewpoint of value and aesthetics,of figures of speech make translatability limited.As for the above important factors,this paper employs many typical examples to discuss this problem of translational limitations.
