Assimilation,Challenge and Fight——On the Body Politics of Females in Some of Morrison's Best Works

托尼.莫里森对身体政治有着敏锐的认识。她非常擅长把身体概念与政治主题结合起来,尤其擅长刻画女性人物的身体感受,并以此来反映她的政治意图。在《最蓝的眼睛》中,佩科拉有着被白人价值观内化的身体诉求;在《宠儿》中,塞思和母亲等人进行着无奈的身体挑战;在《秀拉》中,秀拉开展着积极的身体抗争。这些都体现了莫里森对身体政治,尤其是对女性身体政治的关注和审视。

Toni Morrison is keen on body politics,and especially good at depicting the body feelings of female characters to reflect her political intents.This paper briefly analyzes body politics of some of female characters in Morrison＇s best works from three aspects.The first is the body request in The Bluest Eye,where Pecola assimilates the values of the white for blue eyes.The second is the body challenge in Beloved,where Sethe and her mother and other females use their bodies to challenge the slavery though passively.The last is the body fight in Sula,where Sula uses her body to fight against the male-dominated society.All of the three aspects embody Morrison＇s love to body politics.
