The Fusion of the Historical Truth and Literary Fiction——the interpretation of historical representational technique in Herman Wouk's The Winds of War

美国犹太裔作家赫尔曼.沃克的战争题材小说《战争风云》是现代文学史上全景式表现二战进程的一部规模宏大的作品。小说真实地再现了从纳粹德国入侵波兰至珍珠港事件爆发这段战火纷飞的历史,作者在重现历史的过程中,运用了把真实和虚构融为一体,将文学和史实置于一炉,从而使历史的真实感得以呈现的创作手法。这一再现历史的手法集中体现在对虚构主人公亨利.维克多一家命运沉浮的描述,对一部虚构的军事著作的呈现,以及对真实历史人物的勾勒三个方面。

The Jewish American writer Herman Wouk s war novel The Winds of War is a huge work in representing the Second World War in the modern literary history,and it unfolds a piece of historical episode from the German Nazi s invasion of Poland to the Japanese attack on the Pearl Harbor.This thesis aims to analyze the novel s writing technique in its representation of the history,i.e.how to integrate the reality and fiction,the text and history.This writing technique mainly includes its depiction of the fate of fictional hero Victor Henry＇s family, the insertion of an imaginary military work written by a German general, and the vivid description of the real historical figure.
