The Vulnerability of the Equator Principles

作为国际项目融资的行业基准,赤道原则集中体现了商业金融机构致力于可持续发展的愿景。本文在简介赤道原则运行机理的基础上,分析赤道原则现行规定的内在缺陷与执行困难,阐释赤道原则的脆弱性,既为今后进一步修订和完善赤道原则提供理论依据,也为赤道原则金融机构(Equator Prineiple Financial Institutions简称EPFIS)切实履行自我承诺提供有价值的执行建议。

As the industry benchmark of international project financing, the Equator Principles reflect the commitment of commercial financial institutions to sustainable development. Based on the introduction of operation of the mechanism of the Equator Principles, this paper analyzes the inherent defects in existing provisions of the Equator Principles and the difficulties of the implementation in practice, illuminates the vulnerability of the Equator Princi- ples. With the aid of such analysis, theoretical basis will be provided for further revising and improving the Equator Principles, as well as valuable implementation suggestions will also be brought to fulfill the self-commitment of financial institutions to Equator Principles in the future.
