The phonology of the Laifeng dialect in Hubei province

来凤县方言属于西南官话,其声母有20个,韵母39个,声调4个。在声母方面,无卷舌音,不分尖团。在韵母方面,古、果摄字开口,今多读[o]韵,无[n η]、无[in iη]的对立。在声调方面,来凤话声调与古四声有着相对严整的对应关系。

Laifeng dialect belongs to the Southwest Mandarin. There are 20 initial consonants, 39 compound vowels and 4 tones in the phonology. There is no retroflex ,no confronting about harp and rounded sounds in initial consonant. There isnt any differentiation between[ an ] and [ an ] or[ in ] and [ in ] in the compound vowels. The tones in laifeng Dialect develop reguly in accordance with the 4 ancient tones.
