Objective: To investigate the role of sulfatide in the injury and repair process of rabbit arterial endothelia at the early stage. Methods: Twenty New Zealand rabbit models of arterial endothelial ischemia/reperfusion were established by clamping left common carotid for 10 minutes, and then were divided into sulfatide (5 g/L,2 000 ng/g) treatment group and control group, with 10 rabbits in each group. Pathological examinations of the common carotid were performed after the rabbits were sacrificed. Results: The polymorphonuclear leukocytes adhered to the injured endothelium of sulfatide group were more than those of control group. Conclusion: Sulfatides increased the polymorphonuclear leukocyte adhesion to the site of injured endothelium.
