Su Dong-po's Three Breakthroughs in Huizhou

苏东坡贬寓惠州后,处境十分困难,深受生活贫困、失去亲人和提防政敌攻击的三重重压。性情旷达的苏东坡善于从儒、道、释三家思想汲取营养,以"超然物外"的思想为武器,亲自参加轻微的体力劳动,与惠州人民打成一片,创造了一种"和陶诗"新诗体来进行创作,从而克服了三重困难。

When Su Dong - po was demoted to live in Huizhou, he led a difficult life, suffering from three depresses ： poverty, losing family and slander from political opponent. With a magnanimous temperament, he was adept in absorbing the quintessence from Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism, held aloof from the world, took part in light manual labor, merged himself with Huizhou people, and created a new style of poetry- ＂He Tao Shi＂ （a mock poetry style of Tao Yuanming） to overcome the difficulties.
