In 1980s when I studied in Germany, I visited Siemens Museum of Siemens, in order to get an understanding of the development history of Siemens, this century-old brand. I have always studied transnational coroorations assuming Siemens is an important benchmark. Two years ago, Siemens was caught in commercial bribery, which made I wondered how such a large-scale and century-old brand could commit that big corruption. After the case was settled in 2008 in the United States, I consider why Siemens had this irregular operation and how it dealt with the irregularities, against the background of globalization. In June last year, I visited Siemens headquarter in Germany, and had a talk with compliance department of Sie- mens China when returned to Beijing. Meanwhile, we visited ten plus other multinational companies to learn their experiences and practices in compliance.
