There are many critical issues unresolved in the research of elite education. Definition of the elite not only relates to basic theoretical issues, but also has direct impact on practice, including the identification, placement and curriculum development of elite education. Some researchers, like Gagne, emphasize the difference between gifted and talented, which reflects a current trend of elite education. This study analyzes the essentials of these two concepts and introduces this shifting trend in elite education to provide some theoretical references for the implementation of elite education.
